Beach Break Waves, Lessons & Surf Camps on the Pacific

El Paredon is Guatemala's top surf destination, offering a powerful beach break on the Pacific coast with consistent waves year-round. The main break at El Paredon Buena Vista works best at mid to high tide and can reach 2–4 meters during peak swell season (May–October). The wave is a fast, hollow left and right beach break over a sandy bottom — friendly for beginners learning to surf and challenging enough for intermediate riders. Several surf schools operate directly on the beach, offering group lessons, private coaching, and multi-day surf camp packages that include accommodation, meals, and daily lessons. Board and wetsuit rentals are available at most hostels. The lack of crowds compared to Costa Rica or Mexico makes El Paredon a special discovery for any surfer.

This little beach town is delightfully underdeveloped, authentic, and relaxed. This is not a resort town by any means. Lots of small hotels and hostels. The temperature stays hot at night, and you might have difficulty sleeping. The beach was mostly clean, and the waves were good.

Loved the sea and the waves, the black sand and how clean the beach is.
