The beach is dark-sand, wide, and practically empty on weekdays. The surf is strong: swim close to shore and with caution.

Where It Is and How to Get There

From Guatemala City it's about 5 hours: CA-2 West to the Ocós/La Blanca junction (past Coatepeque), then the road to the Tilapa boat landing. By public transport: bus to Coatepeque or Tecún Umán, then a minibus to La Blanca/Tilapa. The last stretch is a shared boat (Q10-15) that crosses the estuary to the beach.
